Finally done with Akhor's commission. I experimented with backlighting, reflective surfaces, and of course, making things look less cartoony. Ultimately it came out better than I expected, though there a few things wrong with it I REALLY wish I had time to fix. I love doing complicated horns, though
I originally did this background so I could A) have grass and water and B) because all Akhor's previous pictures were all mountainy. So by doing a backlight field I could draw his red behind in darker tones. I've now drawn so many red dragons... I... I just... my eyes are so bleedy...
Akhor walks through a grassy plain after a dark storm. The sun breaks through the clouds and shines off the water revealing the vast expanse of sky above. (Not to you though, haw haw)
Akhorishaan property of himself. Art is copyright to me. Hurr.
Holy crap, your technique has REALLY improved. This is stunning! The only thing I would suggest (and this is probably what you wanted to fix), Akhor doesn't look like he's actually *in* the meadow. I'd add his shadow to the ground and have some grass sprout up around his feet to give it a better 3D feel.
Ho'lord, the amount of time that grass had to take. o.o

I make shinies.
I knew I forgot something!
Thanks! And yeah, the grass did take a while, not as long as fixing all the texturing mistakes, but yes

The position of the artist is humble. He is essentially a channel. ~ Piet Mondrian
I cannot expect even my own art to provide all the answers - only to hope it keeps asking all the right questions. ~ Grace Hartigan
Akhor and I usually chat in my channel of the DRIRC, and he's still big super-op in the main channel.
